We truly appreciate you blowing winds in the sails of this Rites of Passage prayer in honor of our beloved Courtney Brooke.
This is our prayer to honor our beloved sister, Courtney Brooke Allen. She was a bright light and true example of what it means to live with love and from the heart, to live in harmony with the Earth and to offer our gifts to serve life and humanity. Courtney Brooke was a lead facilitator for our Growing Goddess program, friend, teacher and mentor to many. Her involvement was integral to the entire organization of Earth Path Education. In her name, we have created this scholarship to provide access to powerful Rites of Passage programs for BIPOC and underserved youth.
Courtney Brooke was the first to say, “ what do you need?”, “Let’s clean it up.” She trusted people and loved the Earth in a way that inspired me deeply. She could be seen singing to the waters, playing with the children, tending the corn, and through it all- she was praying. Her life was a ceremony, a delicious gift to the holy in the seed, the holy in the Earth, the holy in the heart of humanity. She made the time to be present with you, to serve, to tend the fires of her passions. She was an artist, a change maker, a shining example fierce grace and of kindness, a permaculturist, a storyteller, a ritualist, a hearth tender, a keeper of seeds, a teacher, a teacher, a musician, an amazing sister and friend.
She died in a tragic car crash here in WNC on January 15th. Her body was honored in a home funeral and she was planted as a seed in her garden in a green burial. She will forever be missed and her love continues to grow in our hearts and guide us in the ways of beauty, service and of mentoring young women’s rites of passage. As the spring buds find the courage to blossom towards the sun, we also fill the rivers with our tears, weeping for the loss of our beloved friend, mentor, daughter, granddaughter, spiritual mother, goddess mother, partner, teacher and inspiring woman, Courtney Brooke Allen.
Please help us carry this prayer forward.
